LACK OF URGENCY

HAD MRI THAT FINALLY FOUND TUMOR, (AFTER ABOUT 8 YEARS OF SUSPICION BY DR'S)_AND A NEGATIVE BIOPSY IN 2010.  HIGH PSA'S EVER SINCE (20 TO 25).

MRI DIAGNOSIS ON 5/9 BUT 30 DAY WAIT FOR "MRI GUIDED BIOPSY".  SHOULD BE WITHIN 15 DAYS MAX....

WATCHED RELATIVES WHOM ALL HAD UNEXPLAINABLE WAITS BETWEEN APPOINTMENTS AND PROCEDURES, AND IN ALL CASES, THE END RESULT WAS TRAGIC.

DOES EVERYONE EXPERIENCE SLOW RESPONSE TIMES BETWEEN A DECISION TO DO A PROCEDURE AND THE ACTUAL PROCEDURE????

KIND OF CURIOUS AS TO WHAT IS NORMAL.   THANKS FOR YOUR INPUT.

Holy Moly, we have those kinds of waits too. Have a test in a week, come back and see me the next week and then request a PET scan that takes another week and see the dr a week after that. Then there is chemo training, etc, etc, etc.. I don't know if the wait time makes a difference, it may not. The cancer was probably there for months or maybe years prior to finding it - but we feel your pain. You could talk to your dr and tell him/her the waits are too much for you. Maybe there is a way to be seen in shorter intervals. You may feel better by asking how fast your kind of cancer grows. I always think of prostate cancer as a slow growing variety. We are dealing with pancreatic cancer which is aggressive. This fight is not an easy one.

Thanks. This specific appt not as bad but I am concerned for future appts. I will take Easterlys advice and be more aggressive to get quicker scheduling. Thanks for your input
In my case they moved at near light speed (for Doctors). My Cancer was suspected during a physical in late July. An elevated PSA got my internist's attention, My PSA was 16.9. Within a week I saw a urologist...within another week I had a biopsy. The biopsy showed 7 of 12 cores to be positive, and I was diagnosed...Stage 2, Gleason 8. I probably spent 2 weeks or so weighing the treatment options, finally deciding on radiation therapy. Today will be my 25th treament....with 18 to go. I dont know what the normal interval for treatment is...I do know that my Dr. told me flat out after diagnosis that I didnt have to make an immediate decision, but if I wanted to live, I needed to make one before too much time passed.....I believe my Gleason score had much to do with that. Good luck, my friend. You're not alone.
